Primeiramente vamos falar do pré Allman Brothers Band "The Hour Glass"
The Hour Glass é uma banda de blues formada em 1960 Los Angeles, Califórnia.
Entre os seus membros dois seriam os futuros membros do The Allman Brothers Band (Duane Allman e seu irmão Gregg Allman) e três músicos do famoso estúdio "Fame Studios" em Muscle Shoals, Alabama (Pete Carr , Johnny Sandlin e Paul Hornsby).

A banda foi formada em 26 de março de 1969 em Jacksonville, Flórida com Duane Allman (eleito pela revista Rolling Stones em 2003, como o segundo melhor guitarrista de todos os tempos), Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks e Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson.
Formado originalmente em 1969, foram descritas dois anos depois por George Kimball, jornalista da revista Rolling Stone, como "a melhor banda de rock and roll que este país produziu nos últimos cinco anos". Reconhecidos por sua capacidade de improvisação impressionante, cujo melhor exemplo se encontra no álbum At Fillmore East, a banda foi premiada com onze discos de
Duane Allman faleceu em um acidente de motocicleta. A revista Rolling Stone colocou a banda como um dos 100 Maiores Artistas de Todos os Tempos, em 2004, e foi a banda mais representada na lista de melhores guitarristas feita pela mesma revista. A banda continua a gravar e realizar turnês e está ativa até hoje.

Este é provavelmente o mais comum de todos os shows com Duane, mas existem várias versões diferentes flutuando na web. Depois de muita pesquisa esse foi o video com a melhor qualidade e conteúdo que achei. Este é o Allman Brothers Band Live at The Fillmore East Garage em Nova York em 23 de setembro de 1970 !
